Overview

Reliably expand, and maintain human liver organoids long-term as a model system for studying liver biology, disease modeling, drug discovery, and therapeutic screening. Use HepatiCult™ Organoid Growth Medium (OGM) (Human) to establish hepatic organoids from human liver tissue, or PSC-derived hepatic cells generated with the STEMdiff™ Hepatocyte Kit.

Available either individually or as part of HepatiCult™ Organoid Kit (Human), HepatiCult™ OGM can be used to culture and expand liver organoids for future experimentation or bio-banking. Organoids initiated in HepatiCult™ Organoid Initiation Medium (Human) and expanded in HepatiCult™ OGM express self-renewal (LGR5, AXIN2), ductal (KRT19, SOX9, KRT7), and hepatic progenitor (HNF4A) markers. These organoids can also be differentiated using HepatiCult™ Organoid Differentiation Medium (Human) to mature organoids that demonstrate hepatic functionality, including CYP3A4 activity.

Use HepatiCult™ OGM to culture organoids in a range of formats, including in Corning® Matrigel® domes for routine culture, in dilute Matrigel® suspensions in spinner flasks for scale-up, in 96-well plates for high-throughput screening applications, and as organoid-derived two-dimensional monolayers on Transwell® inserts for disease-modeling applications. The organoids can also be cryopreserved for later use, remaining highly viable and retaining their capacity for further differentiation when thawed and cultured in HepatiCult™ OGM.
