Orion II is a state-of-the-art instrument offering complete flexibility. It features high sensitivity thanks to highly efficient optics and a photon counting PMT. Reagents can be connected easily, and the low dead volume (only 450 µL) saves money on costly reagents. The Orion II can be equipped with up to four reagent injectors and temperature control up to 50°C. Double Injection Design (DID) allows parallel processing of samples and saves valuable assay time.

High performance luminescence
The outstanding sensitivity of Orion II is the result of the unique design, advanced engineering, and high-quality workmanship. All functions of the Orion II are seamlessly integrated to render superior, user-friendly performance.
The detector is operated in photon counting mode which guarantees the lowest signal background for an excellent signal to noise ratio with the highest linearity. The built-in safety circuit protects the detector from potential damage resulting from accidental exposure to high levels of light. A warning is also produced should a sample ever exceed measurement range.
Advanced shaking and temperature control options
The Orion II is more than just a basic luminometer , for assays that require shaking, three mixing modes are available: linear, orbital and cross shaking. Flexible speed and amplitude settings allow easy adaptation to any assay. Orion II offers two different types of sample incubation: top and bottom microplate incubation ensures exceptional temperature stability in the sample chamber for temperature control up to 50°C. For applications that require up to 42°C incubation only, the optional bottom heating function is recommended.
Powerful crosstalk control – reliable results
Do you often see a few high-intensity samples surrounded by wells of low-intensity when running your samples? Then you´re potentially affected by a phenomenon called crosstalk , that can produce wrong results and wrong conclusions. The special design of the Orion IIalmost eliminates this problem. With a crosstalk of 3 x 10-5 , you never have to worry about the position of your high-intensity samples in your plate.
Up to 4 injectors with low dead volume and flexible positioning The combination of reagent delivery options is virtually unlimited. Up to four automatic reagent injectors are available with injection volumes of 10 to 150 μL each. For increased throughput, up to 2 injectors can be installed in measurement position for simultaneous injection. The optimized reagent holders accommodate any shape and any size bottle in a position that allows the complete use of valuable reagent.
Easy waste management
Thanks to a built-in waste pump you will not need to worry about loading microplates, waste containers or removal of injector tips for washing and filling the reagent lines. The built-in waste pump takes care of the safe removal of all excess liquids.
Optimized injection for faster throughput
The Orion II system has the capability to run samples and process measurements in the most time efficient manner. The proprietary Double Injection Design (DID) allows parallel processing of samples saving valuable assay time. DID has been applied to both 96 well and 384 well configurations.
